Told the girlfriend I wanna replace the Mustang with a truck. This is her response. This is either good or very bad. I’m scared.

Yeah, do whatever you want to that’ll teach her.

“This is either good or very bad.”
I’m going to say it’s good.

Well if you don’t know, I’m certainly not going to tell you.

Oh my God. I hate that one.
I learnt to pretend nothing was wrong whatsoever till I got a straight answer. But you’ve got to be strong and determined.

Just remember that for when SHE wants something...... because she will NEVER FORGET.

She brought it on herself. Have fun with your new truck, I say.

Does she like to talk things through before making big financial decisions? I’ve gotten similar responses from Miss Tesla before, but only because I didn’t consult her first (on the affordability of the object and why I want to pay the price to get it).

Congrats on your newly single life!

“remember when I let you get truck... so.... I was wondering if I...” is surely how a conversation will start in the near future

Danger Will Robinson. Danger danger.
On no. It was a text so you can’t even pick up the inflection in her tone.
“What ever you want honey” is bad, but “Have fun with your cars” sounds like “Have fun with your cars, WHILE YOU CAN”.
Sleep with one eye open.

Not really. Haven’t been together long enough (little over a year) to have any huge financial decisions to consult with. I haven’t told her how little it costs, though. She explained she just doesn’t like trucks, but her only experience with them is her mom’s crapcan S10 with a bad tensioner, no speedometer, no tachometer, no fuel gauge, the doors don’t close right, etc. etc. etc. etc.

ITS A TRAP!

Ah. Miss Tesla and I are at a year and almost two months now. :) But because we now live together, we have to budget and stuff.
In your girlfriend’s case, it may just be that she really really hates trucks. :/ Make sure you talk it over before deciding anything! And remember, relationships do involve at least some sort of compromise, and that may play out here.

What about a nice 4 seater?
![]() 04/22/2016 at 13:12 |

What she’s really thinking:
“Omfg just make up your mind and buy something or don't and get it over with and stop asking me what I think, I don’t caaaaaaaare anymore!!”
In our household at least, we have a joint account for common expenses and everything in our personal accounts is “your money, your problem.” So unless he needs to use my big fat line o credit and then pay me back, how much he blows on his cars is his own prerogative.

Truck will help with move, and is easy to sell for more than I would pay for it. That’s my angle and I’m sticking to it ;)

Yea, especially with direct deposit, makes things so simple :)
And in my case, I appreciate that he values my feedback on whatever he’s thinking of buying when it’s $1000+ but if I wasn’t into cars at all (Jake didn’t mention if his gf is or not) I’d imagine it could get tiresome. Like when I go on about Strongman stuff that Travis doesn’t know a lot about.
![]() 04/22/2016 at 13:32 |

Yea I ask my wife what she thinks, and mostly she’ll just shrug and walk away unless it’s something like a TV then she may have an opinion. Between direct deposit and bank transfers I agree it is way too simple.

Translation: “You’ll probably do what you want no matter what I think. Now about that juicer I saw the other day..."

Code Red. There are two different translations:
“Sure, that’s your decision because it’s your car. Pick something that you’ll enjoy”
or
“(pause) I’m tired of you talking about cars. You better rethink your decisions and buy a ring already instead of a car because I don’t understand your obsession”
How do I know? I’ve dated both answers.
